Getting Pour Ready: Using my time in #Quarentine to explore creativity and new ideas.

I am so excited! After months of researching the methods, different materials and the do's and don’ts of pouring and working with resin – being home during quarantine is allowing me time to experiment and finally take a chance with new techniques. Launching into acrylic paint pouring and resin work is exciting and scary, and I cannot wait to see what new work I am able to create. In the next month, I plan on bringing out a whole new style. I hope you are as excited as I am and will stay tuned to see what new creations I bring to my site.

Shop Local: USDA Farmer's Market Directory. Find a Market Near you.

Many people across the Country are facing challenges with the changes COVID-19 has brought on. Together, we can combat these challenges from home and within our community by shopping local. Big chain grocery stores are great for bulk buying and certain home essentials however turning to your local markers for fresh, organic products like meat, eggs, cheese and even local brews is a great way to make a positive impact. Farmers’ Markets have been labeled essential and remain open for produce farmers and other essential retailers. The USDA maintains a directory of Farmers Markets across the Nation. Find the closest Farmers’ Markets near you and continue to support the local economy during (and after) quarantine.

Simple and Fun Arts & Crafts:
Stay Engaged During Quarantine Using Recycled Materials at Home

Cardboard & Construction Paper Animals/shapes: This is a great way to get rid of those amazon boxes or recycling any cardboard laying around the house.

Materials:   Cardboard, Colored Construction Paper, Glue Stick

Directions:

  1. Use the sharpie to draw the shape of the animal onto the cardboard. (Our favorites were a snake, turtle, and even a rainbow).
  2. Use the scissors to cut out the shape and use the sharpie to draw any designs (stripes, diamonds, etc.) onto the animal for decoration.
  3. Use scissors (or your hands) to cut the construction paper into small pieces. I like to separate the different colors in plastic cups.
  4. Being gluing the construction paper onto your animal and watch it come to life!

Homemade Cardboard Postcards: This is a great way to recycle artwork (drawings/paintings) and put them to great use!

Materials: Artwork (a drawing or painting that is new or old), White Paper, Cardboard or Stock Paper, Mod-Podge, Scissors or an Exacto-knife

Directions:

  1. Cut your cardboard or stock paper to the desired size postcard
  2. Take your artwork and cut it to fit the postcard. If using cardboard, you will need to cover both sides of the postcard. I suggest decorating one side with artwork and the other with plain white paper.
  3. Take the Mod-Podge and gently coat one side of the cardboard. Place the artwork on-top and secure.
  4. Add a thin layer of Mod-Podge on top of the artwork and let dry.
  5. Once dry, flip over and repeat step 4, this time with the white paper. This is the side you will write on. Let dry.
  6. Once your card is dry you will have a beautiful handcrafted postcard/letter that you can mail either with a stamp or in an envelope.
